Louise Jackson Rowan
Hi! I'm Louise and I'm a glass-centred artist from St. Helens, Merseyside. I'm currently working towards my degree in Design Crafts: Glass, Ceramics & Jewellery at Swansea College of Art, UWTSD
A Bit About Me
Having grown up in an area that has a long and rich history with glass making, both industrial and artisan (Pilkington Glass Industry, The World of Glass) I have been intrigued and drawn to glass as an artistic medium from a young age. I initially pursued glass as a serious career option during college, achieving an A Level in 3D design specialising in glass fusing and slumping, and then continuing onto study design crafts at Swansea college of Art
My work explores the fluid and ever-changing nature of glass as a material. Through careful manipulation, I push its boundaries, embracing both its fragility and strength. Glass has a unique ability to capture movement and transformation, allowing for dynamic and organic forms to emerge.
I am interested in the balance between control and unpredictability in the creative process. By allowing the material to flow freely while guiding its form, I highlight the tension between structure and spontaneity. Each piece contributes to a broader exploration of transparency, fragility and medium.
